You can contact him at 1-888-IDRYONIS or through the contact form on this site.

Audio clips of the performance will be posted to the Idryonis.com website shortly.

Over the weekend, Baxter Healthcare featured a 60-inch touchscreen game by Idryonis Studios in their tradeshow booth. Idryonis initially built the game as a custom, branded interactive challenge in 2008. However, Baxter ordered several changes and enhancements for a recent tradeshow in California.

Updates Completed on Custom Kiosk Survey Application

Idryonis Studios recently completed upgrades and enhancements to a custom kiosk application for Chattem, makers of ACT Mouthwash. In 2007 Idryonis was contracted to develop the kiosk application and has been providing support and upgrades since then.

This enables lead collection capabilities by requiring attendees to simply swipe their tradeshow ID badge before taking the survey. The survey consists of 6 questions aimed at dental professionals. The results of which help Chattem to evaluate their marketing of ACT Mouthwash, meanwhile the effortless lead collection allows Chattem to easily launch direct marketing campaigns.

In 2006, Poretta & Orr -- a global marketing and communications company -- approached Idryonis Studios for the first time to record voice over for a video presentation they were developing. The phone call was brief, details were established, and a schedule for recording was set. 5 minutes later the phone rings again.

"Do you guys write music too?"
    "Yes, we sure do."
"Okay great, we need that too."

And then a couple minutes later another phone call. "I'm looking at your website, you guys do video?"

And within less than 10 minutes a single-day recording job turned into a 3-year partnership that has yielded unsurpassed results with interactive and linear media.

But back to the job at hand. With a days notice, we had to begin production on a 5 minute video, complete with 3D modeling, animating, special effects, voice over recording, sound effects, and a full orchestral score -- to be delivered in a couple of weeks.

2006 - An Ocean of Discovery

The 2006 Health Care Convention and Exhibitors Association would use the video, "An Ocean of Discovery", as part of a massive kick-off event for their annual meeting by the same name. The dramatic presentation was huge success and anecdotes of the video and music actually bringing tears to the eyes of audience members certainly set the standards high for future work.

2007 - Keys to Success

In 2007, after having been able to work closely with Poretta & Orr on many projects in between, we were again asked to produce the HCEA keynote video. The HCEA annual meeting was being hosted close to home in Philadelphia and centered around Benjamin Franklin. Our "Keys to Success" video also featured animations and special effects and an equally dramatic musical score.

2008 - Reach for the Top

The convention in Salt Lake City featured the video production work of Idryonis Studios in 2008 as well. This video featured general inspirational themes. With the Summer 2008 Olympics right around the corner, triumphant athletic imagery and powerful orchestral music made the film a success.

2009 - Waves of Change

The annual HCEA keynote video was once again created by Idryonis Studios. This years theme and location was the Waves of Change in Tampa Bay, Florida. Photos and videos of oceans, waves, and sailing as well as several created 3D rendered scenes were utilized to round out the package. As for the audio, just like the other 3 years, Idryonis did the full sound design (including recording the voiceover) and composed another incredible orchestral piece!

2010 - Big Challenge. Big Opportunity. Big Easy.

For the 5th year in a row, the annual HCEA keynote video was produced by Idryonis. This years video was a little bit different, as a live New Orleans band would be providing the music. The video had to provide a visual backdrop for the live music. As such, no voiceover or composed music was needed this year. The video was comprised of a multitude of New Orleans photography and imagery. Animated frames and musical elements and completed this years successful production.

Wild Earth: Deep Ocean Safari

Getting the Job

Riding high on the success of their Wild Earth line of educational motion simulators, Entertainment Technology Corporation (EnTCo) took the brand a step further by developing an underwater version. Wild Earth: Deep Ocean Safari (WEDOS) is an interactive deep ocean exploration that takes place off the coast of California.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) directed all subject matter relating to marine life and helped ensure that the ride is truly accurate in teaching children and adults about marine life and conservation. Philippe Cousteau and his organization EarthEcho International have also taken a front-seat in shaping the game's conservation message.

Phillipe, grandson of famous captian Jacques Cousteau, is best known as the Chief Ocean Corespondent for Animal Planet and his production work on award-winning documentaries and special programs.

Idryonis' job came into play near the end of development. EnTCo required vast amounts of sound design work, including species sound effects, ambient sound design, triggered sounds, and a custom-composed dramatic score. EnTCo has had plenty of experience working with Idryonis in the past; and every project was an astounding success. In fact, when this project was in pre-production over two years ago, Idryonis had bid for the development of the entire production. Unfortunately, due to previous contractual obligations, we were unable to develop the software component. In the end EnTCo came back to us for the music and audio portion because Deep Ocean Safari needed Hollywood-quality sound and music at a budget price.

The Result

In June of 2009, Idryonis Studios wrapped up production on the sound design and music aspects of the ride.

The original soundtrack consists of 4 main tracks, and "overture" which is played when the ride is idle, and a short cue for the final ascent. The entire score is written for full orchestra with a subtle blend of synthesizers and unique percussion elements. When combined with the visuals, the dramatic music creates a truly immersive deep-ocean experience. From the light piano, celeste, and classical guitar in the coral reef to the menacing synthesizer and hugely dramatic sweeping strings in the shipwreck, the music alone can truly transport you to another world.

The individual sound effects and environmental sound design was another challenge. Usually this is a job that the Idryonis Audio Team can produce very quickly. But when marine life specialists and conservation experts are checking your work for 100% accuracy, things become difficult. Idryonis had to research and locate - and in many cases create - sounds from obscure fish and marine animals that were main focal points of the game. After many rounds of revisions on several species, Idryonis finally accomplished the sound design with a perfect blend of accuracy and drama.

The third big task was editing, processing, and mastering the voice over recordings... in two languages! Our goal was to process the VO so it sounded as though the narraraters were above the ocean surface communicating to the research submarine via wireless radio. In real life, the wireless transmission would lose some clarity and quality as the sub descends lower and lower. The Idryonis Audio Team conceived a process consisting of 6 different digital signal processers and effects in a thoughtfully arranged chain to attain the perfect level of "distortion" depending on how deep the sub is in the game. However, after rigorous play testing and internal testing we found that this "perfect" and accurate level of distortion in the game was distracting and just made you think, "Wow! What an awful broken speaker!"

This is one of the many cases where you have to sacrifice accuracy for the overall sanity of the riders! In the end, we toned it down a lot to give the impression of the transmission losing quality without making it such a focal point of the game.

In the end, Idryonis produced truly world-class music and sound design that added a new dimension of drama, enjoyment, and immersion to and already incredible experience!

3 versions of the simulator ride will be manufactured and sold around the globe; a single-player kiosk, a 2-player motion simulator, and a 4-person motion simulator. The latter two will feature our audio and music work in full surround sound.

Video produced for Horizon Therapeutics

Instead of playing the video on standard HD televisions, it was projected onto a huge canopy above the booth. This created an atmospheric ceiling effect and provided a subtle and effective way to further promote the Horizon Therapeutics brand.

You can watch the Horizon video in our online portfolio gallery, along with other similar works.
3D Animation is produced for CliniRx

Idryonis Studios was contracted to create a complex 3D animation for biotech company, CliniRx. The project included 3D modeling, animation, special effects, and motion graphics.

The client demanded Hollywood-quality visuals and a unique style to match their corporate branding. Idryonis modeled and animated portions of the CliniRx logo to interact with an animated model of Earth to convey their global span.

You can see clips of this animation video as well as similar projects in our online portfolio.

New Interactive Touch-Screen Game Developed and Installed

Idryonis Studios recently visited Washington, DC for the installation of a new interactive game exhibit at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology annual tradeshow. Idryonis was hired by Poretta & Orr to develop the game for Baxter Healthcare to educate doctors and promote their Gammagard Liquid.

Poretta & Orr hired Idryonis Studios to develop the game because of our proven reliability and unmatched creativity during rapid development cycles. Idryonis had less than 3 weeks to produce the game from scratch, which is played on a 60-inch touch screen plasma TV. The game includes 3 difficulty levels where the player has 90 seconds to answer 9 questions about Gammagard Liquid. Each player is scored and the top 10 scorers enter their initials on the leaderboard with an on-screen virtual keyboard. For each person that plays the game, Baxter is donating $10 to the Make a Wish Foundation with a goal of $5000, as indicated by a on-screen meter.

The game was built on a completely custom game engine running on a built-in computer. However, the game is also able to be deployed over the internet. This allows the game to run on any desktop computer, laptop, PDA, kiosk, or large touch-srceen. The game platform can also be modified and customized for many different applications.

If you are interested in utilizing interactive technology for marketing, education, or entertainment do not hesitate to contact us.

Idryonis Studios just finished post-production video work for an Act Mouthwash commercial staring Christie Brinkley. Chattem, makers of Act, produced a new HD television commercial and planned to play the new ad at an industry tradeshow in Chicago. The only problem... the large plasma TVs in their booth were installed vertically for a different purpose. In steps Idryonis. We rotated the 1920x1080 HD video 90-degress and condensed it to 1080x608. In the resulting blank space above and below the video, we added special effects, motion graphics, and text to hilight the ads message all while seamlessly blending our art with the original ad.

You can view the ad, along with the added work by Idryonis Studios in our Online Portfolio.

Hosted Client Portal Service is Launched

This week Idryonis Studios launched its hosted client portal service and opened up access to Poretta & Orr. The service will allow Poretta & Orr to manage its vast inventory of pre-fabricated tradeshow products available to its clients.

Poretta & Orr's clients can access the system, which mimics a standard online shopping cart application. A user can request items for a particular tradeshow, and those items will be waiting for them when they arrive. The system is linked to multiple warehouses and managers to enable the delivery of requested items to a tradeshow in a manner completely seamless to the end user.

If you would like a similar system for your company, please contact us for details.

Development Underway on a Hosted Client Portal Service

Idryonis Studios is wrapping up work on a hosted client portal service, which will assist in managing exhibit and tradeshow item tracking, inventory, and logistics. Poretta & Orr has commissioned the project and has signed on as the founding company.

Poretta & Orr will utiltize the system to organize and manage hundreds of items, events, and individual exhibitors associated with thier clients.

An individual exhibitor or exhibit group can login to the system and interactively design thier exhibit booth with available items in the inventory for a particular tradeshow. After entering additional details, an exhibit request is sent to both the vendor and the client with a unique tracking ID. All transaction data is logged for further tracking.

The hosted web service is expected to officially launch mid-February.

Idryonis Studios launches version 5 of idryonis.com!

Today, Idryonis Studios launched the 5th version of idryonis.com. A new look-and-feel and many new usability enhancements are featured with this complete make over.

Online Portfolio Gallery
The most important goal of the website was to easily and proudly display our past work to prospective clients. With that in mind, we developed our brand new online Portfolio Gallery and organized its contents into major sections, each representing a category of services and products we offer to our clients.

Who are we? What is an Idryonis?
These questions were left unanswered by our previous website. Our new concise Who we Are section answers all these questions and more. We want our clients to feel comfortable with Idryonis. Understanding our background, who we are as people, and what we strive to do helps accomplish that.

Now you know what we do, find out how we do it.
Our new Projects & Case Studies section gives you access to an unfiltered look into the development process of major projects. The good and the bad and how we overcome inevitable challenges and problems. Occasionally on the website we will feature a current noteworthy project as a "Featured Project". You can always click on the project to the left for details. Over the coming months, this section will be populated with more articles and more details for each project by members of the development team.
The Projects & Case Studies section works in parallel with who we are and with the portfolio. By knowing how we operate, you know even more about us. If the problems we are faced with make you uneasy, consider how the situations would pan out with another company lacking our inventive and educated solutions.

We hope that visitors to the site are able to more easily gather important information. We also value your feedback regarding the new site. Please contact us with any comments or questions. You can also use the Get a Quote page to quickly send us details regarding upcoming projects.

An archived version of the idryonis.com v4 site will be hosted shortly.
Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo

Idryonis Studios maintains a long partnership with the National AeroSpace Training and Research Center (NASTAR). NASTAR Center operates a state of the art facility that is used by the aerospace industry for training and research. Within the NASTAR Center is a modular centrifuge with a 25-foot planetary arm. Its modular design allows for different gondolas or cockpits to be built to exact specifications so that trainees can experience exact simulations of various aircraft, fighterjets, or spaceships. With a maximum G-level of 15 G and the ability to reach 10 G's in a second, this centrifuge is perfectly suited for space flight simulations.

When NASTAR Center was commissioned by Virgin Galactic to develop the training simulator for their highly anticipated SpaceShipTwo, NASTAR Center turned to Idryonis Studios for the content production. Idryonis Studios was entrusted with the 3D modeling, advanced shader effects, sound design, and audio tactile effects. Now that the production is complete and the dust has settled, we present a brief case study on the project.

3D Modeling & Shaders
After a series of confidentiality agreements, we received the concept shots and specs for the interior cockpit of the craft. Our 3D animators immediately began work on the model, made difficult by the complex shape of the windows and concave bulkhead. Every single gauge and meter had to be replicated and animations of the meters had to be linked to the physics being applied to the craft. After over 10 revisions, we finally got it perfect. In the mean time work on advanced shader effects were in progress to simulate sun glare, windshield condensation, rocket contrails and other special effects.

Sound Design & Tactile Effects
The sound design presented specific problems, and creating audio tactile effects was something we had never done before. Days of watching (read: listening to) Discover Channel shows and scouring YouTube for audio ideas yielded some help. But eventually our sound designers decided to simply tap into their creativity and have fun with the sound. The result is a dramatic and cinematic soundtrack that can stand up to any blockbuster movie. Coupled with the seat-mounted low frequency transducer (or "seat shaker"), the entire audio experience alone is enough to get your heart pumping and adrenaline rushing.

Idryonis works on Virgin Galactic trainer

Idryonis Studios® has been hired by the NASTAR Center to produce the visual and audio design of Virgin Galactic's space flight training software. Virgin Galactic is moving closer to becoming the worlds first commercial space-line; and the NASTAR Center has established itself as the world leader in aviation and space flight training and research. Idryonis Studios is proud to work with the NASTAR Center on this prestigious project for Virgin Galactic and to position ourselves as a world-leader in multimedia development.

A recent contract between the NASTAR Center and Virgin Galactic to cooperate in the on-going training of space travelers going aboard Virgin Galactic's spacecrafts opened up a creative channel for Idryonis. Back in 2005, NASTAR Center's sister company, Entertainment Technology Corporation selected Idryonis Studios to develop the game for a now-popular motion simulator ride attraction, Monster Roll Cage. Since then Idryonis' relationship with ETC has flourished. Now, ETC has selected Idryonis to develop all on-screen graphics, visual effects, audio effects, soundscapes, and portions of the tactile effects for the Virgin Galactic training simulator.

The simulation software is run in a totally enclosed cockpit featuring a 180-degree dome display and surround sound system attached to the STS-400 Centrifuge in the NASTAR Center's training facilities. Trainees will experience sustained G forces as they are taken on a life-like space launch into a suborbital flight. During the space flight, riders encounter the breath-taking visuals of Earth and the accurately modeled cabin along with the astonishing sound effects and audio associated with exiting and re-entering Earth's atmosphere.

For more information, see the Virgin Galactic Project Page.

Idryonis Studios Completes Work on Video Production

This weekend, attendees of the Healthcare Convention and Exhibitors Association (HCEA) Annual Meeting will be treated to a grand opening event featuring the artistry of Idryonis Studios. This is the second year Idryonis has been hired to produce the video for the massive kick-off event. This years video features substantial CGI and post production special effects work, a composed symphonic score, voice over dialog, and custom sound design - all of which was provided by Idryonis with creative direction from Poretta & Orr, a global communications firm.

This project posed many technical and creative hurdles for Idryonis. Having overcome them with creative solutions, the result is leaps and bounds beyond anything we have accomplished before. The roughly 3½-minute production consisted of...

An orchestral sequence recording of 83 tracks, mixed and mastered into a single stereo track

A video sequence consisting of 100 individual special effects compositions

300 GB of raw hard drive space

Voice over and sound effects

Monster Roll Cage® Featured at IAAPA Trade Show

Monster Roll Cage was featured by Entertainment Technology Corporation at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) industry trade show last week in Atlanta. The ride ran non-stop every minute of the trade show to showcase MRC to amusement ride enthusiasts, theme park and amusement center owners, industry workers, and members of the press.

Monster Roll Cage® was first showcased at the 2004 IAAPA trade show at a stationary kiosk. This year it returned with the full motion platform, external displays, and a junkyard themed booth! The ride ran smoothly in regards to both hardware and software with a remarkable 100% uptime. This is a vast improvement over competitive products.

Several key members of Idryonis Studios were proud to be a part of this years IAAPA. Idryonis would like to thank EnTCo for providing the opportunity, and all of the riders who shared our enthusiasm all week long. We received many great comments about our game software and we appreciate everyone spreading the word about Idryonis Studios and Monster Roll Cage!

Background: In 2004, Idryonis Studios completed a contract from EnTCo to produce the Monster Roll Cage game software from scratch in an unprecedented 3 months. Since the completion of the contract, Idryonis and EnTCo have continued working closely to produce software and hardware updates to ensure a superior product is achieved.

Idryonis.com Version 4 Has Launched

Idryonis has launched idryonis.com v4! Given our increased relations with private clients as well as the increase of interest in Idryonis games, we decided to make two separate sites. Our Games@Idryonis site is tailored for our retail game titles and the Development@Idryonis site provides information about the projects we've done and the projects we can do, as well as a dedicated client site with our custom client-accessed Development Portal. A link to toggle between the two sites is at the bottom-left of the main Idryonis header on each webpage

Users interested in Idryonis games can now get closer to the development of new titles with inside scoops, development screenshots, message boards, and special downloads.

Current clients can enjoy the benefit of Idryonis' new Development Portal. In the devPortal, clients can obtain special access to a "remote office" environment where they can check on the status of tasks, exchange files, leave messages, request tasks, fill out bug reports and check a bugs status, view and add to a project calendar, and more.

Prospective clients interested in obtaining more information about Idryonis can now browse a portfolio of work and take advantage of a new clear and organized site with a wealth of company information at your disposal. As always, prospective clients are encouraged to call Idryonis at +1 267.872.1014 for specific information.

MRC Version 1.7 Has Shipped

Idryonis Studios has shipped a new milestone version of Monster Roll Cage! New features include more concise play-times, a high scores screen, support for a new steering wheel setup, environmental detail, and fixes for several critical stability and gameplay related bugs.

Even more customizations went into our already heavily modified Torque Game Engine to enable the game to run stable for extended periods of time. Through intensive play tests, we calculated that MRC can run stable for almost two full days straight with out a reboot. Customers who own or rent MRC can now be confident that their new attraction can easily handle a full summer weekend of riders without the need to reset the software. MRC also features a new steering wheel setup that is much sturdier than the old one.

Customers can enjoy MRC's new and improved stability, both in software and hardware, and its decreased hassle and required maintenance.

This major milestone upgrade was pivotal in ensuring that MRC enjoys a long life span.

For inquiries on purchasing or renting Monster Roll Cage for your facility, please contact Dave Mitchell at Environmental Tectonics Corporation via email or at +1 215.355.9100 x1018.
